If you already have a passport in your possession, you're going to find out that it isn't going to last forever. In fact, you're going to find out that you're going to have to renew your passport every 10 years. You will have to basically do the whole process again, where you will get your picture taken, as well as handed out a new book / passport.
Now, the same rules play in effect, when you get your passport. If you're under the age of 16, you will have to get a minor passport. If you're over the age of 16, you will have to get a passport geared toward adults. Whatever age you are at the time of applying, this will be the one that you will get.
For adults, you're going to have to pay $140 to renew both your passport book, and card. If you want to just renew the book, you will pay $110. If you want to renew just the card, you will pay $30.
When you're a minor, you will more than likely have to pay for an adult passport, when their passport is up. This isn't the case all the time thought. You will want to check with the Passport agency, as they require that all minor applications apply in person, and this will also include renewals as well.
How can I renew?
The state will recommend that you renew by mail. If you don't want to renew by mail, you will also find out that you can renew at the Passport Agency as well.. If you're living outside of the United States, you will find that you will have to apply at the US Embassy, or consulate.
